Sylwester Latkowski

  • Scientific Director -
  • Photonic Integration Technology Center (PITC)

Sylwester Latkowski obtained M.Sc. and Eng. degrees in optoelectronics and technical physics from the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin, Poland, and a Ph.D. degree in photonics from Centre for High-Speed Devices and Systems at Dublin City University, Ireland. He followed up his interests with the Photonic Integration group at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), the Netherlands with a focus on test assembly and packaging of integrated photonics, next-generation photonic integration technologies, and on-chip laser systems for sensing applications. Currently, Sylwester shares his duties at the university with the position of scientific director at Photonic Integration Technology Center, a Dutch applied research center founded by TU/e, UT, TNO, and PhotonDelta. Sylwester’s professional activities include an active role in road-mapping initiatives for integrated photonics. He is a chair and co-chair of the electronic-photonic test working group of the Integrated Photonic Systems Roadmap International supported by AIM Photonics Academy and Photon Delta ecosystems. Sylwester has a sitting in the steering committee of the joint European platform for photonic integrated components and circuits, JePPIX. Sylwester is a senior member of IEEE and IEEE Photonics Society and a voting member of the IEEE Standards Association Photonic Standards Committee. He is chairing the IEEE SA project toward the standardization of electronic-photonic design automation. He has authored and co-authored more than 135 publications in international scientific journals and conference proceedings.
