
Alan Evans
After a 27-year career at Corning, Incorporated, Dr. Alan Evans now consults with businesses and academia in pursue innovative breakthroughs specializing in integrated photonic and fiber optic communication systems. Dr. Evans recently became a group leader of the IPSR-I Interconnects roadmap. At Corning he had a variety of technical and leadership roles most recently Integrated Optical Connectivity Program Director for the Corning Optical Communication business. Previously, for 11 years Dr. Evans lead the Optical Physics and Transmission Technology Research Directorate where he was responsible for Corning’s optics and photonics research. During that time, he coordinated COC’s research portfolio in materials, fabrication optical, fiber design, transmission testbeds, and system-level modeling that strengthened Corning’s world market and technology leadership in fiber. Dr. Evans has over 50 patents or patents pending and has published/presented more than 40 papers/talks with numerous invited talks at major conferences. He received a Doctorate in Optics from the Institute of Optics, University of Rochester and a BS from the University of Wisconsin in Applied Math, Engineering and Physics.
